WHO IS BEHIND BLACK BLACK FRIDAY?
Intentionalist and DNA have teamed up to establish November 24, 2023 as Black Black Friday. Intentionalist is an online guide to intentional spending that supports small business and diverse local communities. DNA is Seattle’s leading creative advertising agency and one of the only Black and LGBTQ+ owned agencies in the country.

We worked with an amazing panel of Black business owners including Dee Alams (City Sweats), Marquita Evans (Intentions Juice And Smoothie Bar), Efrem Fesaha (Boon Boona Coffee), Rodney Hines (Metier Brewing), and Monika Mathews (QueenCare).
How do I register my Black-owned business to accept the
Black Black Friday card?
Does it cost me anything to register my business and
participate in Black Black Friday?
No! It’s free to register and BECU is covering the 20% card discount on the first $250,000 in prepaid cards purchased, not you. We will also provide the in-store signage for the first 200 stores that register, while supplies last.
How do I find out what businesses are participating in Black Black Friday?
Does the Black Black Friday card expire?
The expiration date is printed on the card and is 7 years from the date of card manufacture. The funds on this card will be available until spent or until the date shown on the front of the card which is at least 5 years from the date the value was loaded.
Can I buy more than 1 Black Black Friday card?
Yes!
Is the card only good on Black Black Friday?
No! We encourage you to spend intentionally at Black-owned businesses all year round. The funds on the card will be available until spent, or until the expiration date, which is printed on the card and is 7 years from the date of card manufacture.
Where can the card be purchased?
Is it a physical card or a digital card?
Either; the digital card is available for immediate use upon purchase and activation; the physical card will be received 5 - 7 days after purchase.
Can I purchase a card for more than $100?
Yes. Card amounts are available up to $500.
Can I use my Black Black Friday prepaid card before Black Black Friday?
Yes. Cards will be available for purchase beginning Nov 1 and ready for use beginning Nov 3.
